Preparation
- Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C) and dissolve the yeast with the sugar in it.
- Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the beaten eggs.
- Gradually add flour (approximately 3-4 cups), mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry the doughnuts until golden brown on both sides.
- Allow them to cool and coat with sugar or glaze as desired.
Notes
To store your Twisted Doughnuts, place them in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for a couple of days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. If you want to keep them longer, consider freezing them. Make sure to wrap each doughnut in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe bag. They can last up to three months.
