Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk Warm but not hot for activating yeast
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, yeast mixture, and softened butter to the dry ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
Baking
  1. Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
  2. Arrange the balls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best served warm; can be spread with butter, jam, or honey. Pairs well with soups and salads, or can be used for sliders. To store, keep in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
