Preparation
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut into doughnut shapes.
- Let the doughnuts rise for another 30 minutes.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot. Fry doughnuts until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and enjoy!
Notes
Serve doughnuts warm or at room temperature. Best eaten within a day or two. To store, place in an airtight container. Can be frozen for longer storage.
