Ingredients
  

For the pie
  • 2 pieces pie crusts Preferrably homemade or store-bought
  • 6 cups sliced apples Mix of sweet and tart varieties recommended
  • 3/4 cup sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of apples
  • 2 tablespoons flour To thicken the filling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Optional spice for added warmth
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Prevents apples from browning
  • 1 tablespoon butter To dot over the filling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Place one pie crust in a pie dish and fill it with the apple mixture. Dot with butter.
  4. Cover with the second pie crust, seal the edges, and cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  2. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For added creaminess, serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. To store, cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Can last up to two days at room temperature, or longer in the refrigerator.
