egg, and cheese biscuits

The image shows delicious homemade sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits that appear golden and flaky. Here's a simple recipe to recreate them:

Cheesy Sausage Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ lb breakfast sausage (cooked and crumbled)
  • 1 egg (optional, for an egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook Sausage: Brown the breakfast sausage in a skillet, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Make Biscuit Dough: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Incorporate Butter: Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add Buttermilk & Cheese: Pour in buttermilk and mix until just combined. Fold in cheddar cheese.
  6. Roll & Cut Biscuits: Roll dough to about ½-inch thickness and use a round cutter to make biscuits.
  7. Assemble: Place a layer of cooked sausage between two biscuit rounds, pressing slightly.
  8. Bake: Brush tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve: Enjoy warm, optionally with a drizzle of honey or hot sauce!

Would you like a variation, such as adding scrambled eggs or a spicier version?
