Creamy Baked Custard Recipe

 





Here's a classic Creamy Baked Custard recipe—smooth, rich, and comforting, just like grandma used to make!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Ground nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Heat the milk & cream in a saucepan over medium heat until warm (but not boiling).
  3. Whisk eggs & sugar in a bowl until well combined. Add vanilla and salt.
  4. Slowly add warm milk to the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent scrambling.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for extra smoothness.
  6. Pour into ramekins or a baking dish.
  7. Bake in a water bath: Place ramekins in a baking pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the ramekins.
  8. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Cool & serve warm or chilled, with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
