Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 lb (250g) minced meat (beef, pork, or chicken)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Filling
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add 1 chopped onion and cook until soft.
- Stir in 1 clove minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add minced meat and cook until browned.
- Season with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
- Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. Roll Out the Pastry
- Lay the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
- Roll it out slightly if needed.
4. Assemble
- Spread the cooled meat mixture over half of the pastry.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges.
5. Egg Wash
- Beat 1 egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden crust.
6. Bake
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Serve
- Let cool slightly before slicing.
- Enjoy warm!
