Perfectly Grilled Chicken Wings

 








Grilled chicken wings should be crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Here’s how to make perfectly grilled chicken wings every time!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings (split into drumettes & flats)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

For the Glaze (Optional):

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (or BBQ sauce)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep the Wings

  1. Pat dry the wings with paper towels (removes moisture for crispier skin).
  2. Toss them in olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne.

Step 2: Preheat the Grill

  • Gas Grill: Preheat to medium heat (375-400°F / 190-205°C).
  • Charcoal Grill: Set up a two-zone fire (hot & cool side).

Step 3: Grill the Wings

  1. Indirect Heat First: Place wings on the cooler side of the grill. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes.
  2. Crisp Over Direct Heat: Move wings to the hot side and grill for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Check Doneness: Internal temp should be at least 175°F (80°C) for juicy wings.

Step 4: Glaze & Serve

  1. Mix glaze ingredients and brush onto wings during the last 2-3 minutes of grilling.
  2. Let wings rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  3. Serve with ranch, blue cheese dip, or extra sauce!
