Honey Garlic Ribs

Honey garlic ribs are a delicious combination of sweet, savory, and garlicky flavors. Here’s a simple recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs (900g) pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening sauce)
  • Sesame seeds & chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Ribs

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (for tenderness).
  3. Cut ribs into sections of 2-3 bones each.
  4. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.

Step 2: Bake the Ribs

  1. Wrap ribs in foil and place on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until tender.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
  2. Simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add cornstarch mixture to thicken, stirring until glossy.

Step 4: Glaze & Finish

  1. Remove ribs from the oven and increase heat to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Brush ribs generously with the honey garlic sauce.
  3. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until caramelized. (Alternatively, broil for 2-3 minutes.)

Step 5: Serve

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot with rice or roasted vegetables.
