Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (900g) pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced (optional)
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for spice)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening sauce)
- Sesame seeds & chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Ribs
- Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (for tenderness).
- Cut ribs into sections of 2-3 bones each.
- Season lightly with salt and black pepper.
Step 2: Bake the Ribs
- Wrap ribs in foil and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until tender.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
- In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
- Simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add cornstarch mixture to thicken, stirring until glossy.
Step 4: Glaze & Finish
- Remove ribs from the oven and increase heat to 425°F (218°C).
- Brush ribs generously with the honey garlic sauce.
- Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until caramelized. (Alternatively, broil for 2-3 minutes.)
Step 5: Serve
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve hot with rice or roasted vegetables.
