Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed, if frozen)
  • 4-5 slices of deli ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère work well)
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 10x12 inches).

2. Add the Fillings:

  1. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the puff pastry (optional).
  2. Arrange the ham slices evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the ham.

3. Roll and Slice:

  1. Starting from one of the longer sides, roll the puff pastry tightly into a log.
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1/2-inch thick pinwheels.

4. Bake:

  1. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
  2. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm with honey mustard, ranch dressing, or marinara sauce for dipping.
