Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed, if frozen)
- 4-5 slices of deli ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère work well)
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (about 10x12 inches).
2. Add the Fillings:
- Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the puff pastry (optional).
- Arrange the ham slices evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the ham.
3. Roll and Slice:
- Starting from one of the longer sides, roll the puff pastry tightly into a log.

4. Bake:
- Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
